WHEN our 5 year old daughter Mae pulled Katie’s name out of a hat as the winner of the Boho Luxe Glamping Giveaway winner we never imagined what memories were about to unfold for her and even our family.
In February George and I linked arms with the lovely Michaela and Dean from Paddock Dreams and Lee and Beth from Twilight Glamping to give away an epic 2 days of glamping for 8 friends! The prize included our kombi Harriett for them to cruise the coast in, a deluxe bell tent, rustic ammenities and an open tipi all set up on a cosy location + transfers from Docklands to Portarlington through Port Phillip Ferries.
The result was this amazing set up which ended up bringing joy to some very deserving girls who had travelled from Melbourne and Queensland for the experience.
Katie said “Their glamping giveaway was a truly special time to bond, heal and have some fun! Meeting the kind and genuine creators behind these businesses was our favourite part by far.” (oh shucks)
It’s true we could have kept these girls at Hire A Kombi for more than 2 days! They came to glamp but after exploring the Bellarine Peninsula on day 1 they were in the rain feeding our horses and cattle. Yes don’t stay too long here or we will get you working! ha Not only are they great workers..haha but they left as friends. These young girls have been through rough times this year and they needed these little moments of joy.
Day 2 they travelled down the Great Ocean Road and settled next to the fire that night with a glass of wine and tucked into their cosy bell tent. After a hot shower in the coolest portable ammenities in Australia they headed back down the coast on their last day to Jan Juc to check out the beautiful Arizona Living to take home some cute little pricks…you know like cactus!
After these few days away the girls were inspired to get back to their lives of photography, clothes designing and saving the planet one less plastic intake at a time.
If you’re looking for a few days away glamping along the coast Twilight Glamping are the couple to call. This little family to be have put a lot of time and hard work into making their bell tents a stylish, warm and cosy inviting retreat. “We love when our guests have a great time and enjoy their experience as it makes us feel proud of our little business and the service we provide. If we can create an experience that brings people together with lots of laughs and good times then we know we are doing a good job” said Beth.
Many people think that running a glamping business is pretty glam in itself however we have to say you couldn’t be more wrong. We know these guys go through intense physical labour and sometimes in extreme weather conditions to set up and dismantle. “Despite this though we love being outdoors, travelling to stunning locations and collaborating with some incredible businesses” (like Hire A Kombi and Paddock Dreams) naw thanks Beth.
These love birds started a few years back after getting the idea from a friend of a friend running a similar business in the UK. They realised there was no experience like it down the Great Ocean Road or Bellarine so thought it would be the perfect way to showcase our gorgeous home and offer a totally unique experience for those wanting to explore the area.
They began small with only 5 tents but after getting requests for larger bookings, events and weddings throughout the whole of Victoria they expanded to 20, 50 and now they have almost 80 bell tents!
“We always felt like the next step for us would be to offer larger communal spaces to go alongside our glamping so when the opportunity came up to team with Paddock Dreams, we jumped at the chance.” These guys now offer the full package via Wandering Village which includes accommodation, ammenities, naked tipis and large bamboo yurts.
Michaela from this dream team said it also gives them absolute joy to see their set up come to life and when they came together as Wandering Village it was magic and to throw Hire A Kombi into the mix for the giveaway was shooting stars. (stop it!)
“We enjoy meeting our customers before their events and hearing their amazing plans and stories and see the after photos pop up. However to hear that this gorgeous group of girls got to really spend this special time together and take a breather from the daily stresses from life, have fun + create memories. This really tugs on our heart strings and brings a whole new meaning to what we do and makes the “why” we do it, next level!
We have to admit we have never seen a portable loo that we have wanted so close to the action. They really compliment a set up.
